Damaged Tree

This is the tree in my grandpa's backyard that got damaged last night. According to his neighbor, there actually was a tornado (probably small) that wasn't on the ground, but touched down for a minute or so. When we looked last night, it looked as though lightning must have struck it. But we looked this morning, and there were no burn marks. The tree had fallen and took out his power and mashed his fence. It came very close to hitting the house.

Grandpa said that the electric company came and cut off many of the limbs this morning (which is why they are cut off in this picture). They just got the power working tonight.

So my grandpa, mom, aunt, uncle, and I all worked together to pick up the branches that we could and set them by the curb for the city to pick up. This took a few hours. I enjoyed it since I was doing something good and it was good exercise for a change. I should have taken a picture of the pile of limbs. It wound up being taller than my aunt's SUV. I didn't know that tree limbs could be so heavy.

There were a lot of tornadoes in Kansas last night, yet, according to what I heard on the news this morning, there were no fatalities.

Also, there was a big tornado headed straight for our town. Then it wound up curving around us...Crazy stuff. Perhaps Someone was watching out for us.
